Owned by URBN, Free People is taking steps to be environmentally conscious now. Their commitment takes many forms – both in stores and at their corporate campus. Whether through their recyclable shopping bags, partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters. or using a reusable design and restoration strategy in their offices and stores, URBN is trying to make decisions with their environment and community in mind. For instance, Free People movement’s interior poly bag, the plastic that protects clothing in transit, is 100% PET and therefore, recyclable. Free People is partnered with Girls Inc, an organization inspiring girls to be bold, smart, and beautiful. Free People Movement supports fitness and wellness programs at Girls Inc and donates 1% of Movement proceeds to them. They are also advocates of #GirlsToo, a Girls Inc’s national campaign to stand up against sexual harassment and violence, and to create a culture where all girls grow up safe, respected, and valued.
